Why Niche marketing?

The primary reason for pursuing "niche marketing" is diversity. As an online marketer, you never want to put all your eggs in one basket. Mabye you’re deeply involved in the ‘Make Money Online" information product niche right now, but what would happen if suddenly that market went away? How would that impact your business.

With niche marketing, you always have multiple sources of income. Some niches may do better than others, but that’s the case with all marketing campaigns. Your goal is to continue to expand your footprint into new markets (niches) all the time. This way your income is not soley dependent on any one source.

How Do I Find Unique Markets?

I love the authors answer. Don’t even try!

Looking for that absolute niche with no competition so you can corner the market is a misconception that many new marketers make. Niche marketing is really counter intuitive in that sense.

Instead of trying to find a niche where there is no competition, successful marketers look for competition. The more competition the better. Competition means there are already people spending money in the market. You don’t have to build a base of customers, they already exist. All you have to do is position your product(s) in front of them. Always make sure your target market is already buying in your area.

Niche Marketing Strategy

1. Select A Niche
2. Google Keyword terms associated with that niche
3. Look for Adword Ads related to those keywords. The more Adword ads means people are making money in the niche. Otherwise, why spend money for advertising? Choose a niche that people are emotional about. You need an emotional response to create a reaction.

Here’s the method…

• Create or Exaggerate a Problem
• Offer a solution
• What you’re looking for is the "feel better" factor.

When people are contronted with a problem, they want to feel better about it. The emotional attachment is the trigger you need to get them to take action.

Keep this in mind. "People buy on emotion, and justify with facts!" It’s not the other way around.

I guy spends $70K for a car because it makes him feel good; not because it gets 30 MPG. That’s why car ads for expensive sport cars nearly always associate the car to a beautiful, sexy, vivacious woman. Guys associate fast, powerful, expensive cars with beautiful, sexy women.

Women on the other hand don’t buy Prada or Gucci because of it’s quality. They buy $450 pairs of shoes and $1000 handbags because it makes them feel good.

Facts like quality, good buy, investment over time are used to justify the purchase, not as the motivation to buy.

4. Create a landing page ‘squeeze’ page. Your domain name as well as the title should include you main keyword term(s). This gives the visitor 3 options (1) leave, (2) get additional information by opting in to get your free report, or (3) Instant Fix (download your product)

5. Strong call to action statement (statements that tell the reader why it is in their best interest to take action now.) Hyperlink this statement to your affiliate link. So rather than click here…

6. Use a pop-up opt-in box (timed at 12 seconds). This technique has been proven to work effectively. At 12 seconds, the pop-up hits them when they feel like doing something.

7. Test, track, rinse & repeat.

In summary here is an acronym that will help you remember the steps: S.E.E.

1. STATEMENT (make a statement or ask a question that creates or exagerates the problem).
2. EMOTION (let them feel the emotion).
3. EASY (make it easy for your vistors to take action on the emotions they feel).

While Niche Marketing is not new, more and more information on the subject has been published in recent months as well new product launches touting how easy it is to find a niche and make lots of money. Well if it were that easy everyone would be doing it and Internet Marketers everywhere would be quitting their day jobs.

The truth is that like most things associated with Internet Marketing, “Niche Marketing” is not as easy as the experts would have you believe.

Anyone can create a website or have one built, choose a few affiliate products and call it niche marketing and never make a dime. A “Niche Marketing Strategy” includes everything from choosing the right niche, driving traffic and choosing the right products.

None of these things are particularly difficult alone, but to successfully dominate a niche requires the coordination of various aspects of Online Marketing.

What follows is a basic Niche Marketing Strategy.

1. Choose a niche. Your choice can be based on something of interest or passion, or something that is a popular. A lot of my niche ideas come as a result of conversations I have with family or friends or from newspaper articles I read of interest. For example, a few months ago we found out that one of our grand-daughters has diabetes. Wow! She’s only 12 and thankfully none of her sisters have it, but it changed everything we do as a family. So, as I began to research adolescent diabetes I began to see that there was a market with lots of other parents looking for specialized information. Everything from diet to blood sugar testing meters. I knew absolutely nothing about diabetes, but it wasn’t hard to create a niche site. Anyway, you get the idea.
2. Research your niche to see if there is real interest (are people buying products in this niche?) The easiest way to do this is to do a search in Google. How many pages are there for the keywords? Use the Google Adwords External Keyword tool to drill down long-tail keywords (minimum 300-500 searches per month). Last, how many “Sponsored Ads” (adwords ads) are there on the pages. The more the better (minimum 6). Sponsored Ads means someone is paying for “Traffic.” The only reason people pay for traffic is that they’re making money. No “Sponsored Ads”then the likelihood is that this is not a profitable marketer. In essence, the more competition, the better. You goal is to carve out  a niche within a niche that is already profitable.
3. Pick 5-6 long-tail keyword phrases (see #2). Your goal here is to dominate the conversation for these low-hanging-fruit keywords.
4. Find a product. You don’t have to create you own product to make money. At least not right away. You can make a lot of money as an affiliate.  I use Clickbank. If you don’t have a Clickbank account, sign up for one; it’s free. Clickbank has excellent tutorials to get you started. Go to the Clickbank Marketplace and perform a search to find products for your niche. Research 4-5 products by reading the sales pages carefully. Does it appeal to you? If not, it probably wont appeal to others either. (For more information on how to use Clickbank, you can get my report…)
5. Create your niche site. Start a domain hosted WordPress Blog. Make sure your domain name contain you primary keyword. Set up the blog and create 3-4 articles using your long-tail keywords. You also want to create 3-4 unique articles that can be submitted to high PR Article Directories (i.e. EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleAlley, etc.) These articles are the easiest and most effective way to drive traffic to your money pages.
6. You’ll need an autoresponder (i.e. Aweber, GetResponse) because you’re going to want to capture the names and email addresses of visitors who don’t purchase immediately.
7. Set up a squeeze page. A squeeze page has one purpose only; to capture leads. (For more information on how to create a high converting Squeeze Page, get my report)
8. In order to maximize your efforts, you should place a lead capture form (the same one from you squeeze page) in the side-bar of your blog. This maximizes you list building exposure.
9. Make sure you send traffic to your “Squeeze Page” using the Resource Box for your articles. Many Article Directories do not allow direct linking in the body of the article (EzineArticles for example) but they do allow links in the “Resource” or “Bio” Box at the end of the article. What you want to do is use one of your keyword phrases here to drive traffic to your Squeeze Page first. You can do this by including an HTML “anchor” tag.
   • (e.g. <a href=”http://www.yourdomain.com/yourlandingpage.html”>KeywordPhrase</a>)
10. When you set up your auto-responder properly, your visitor will automatically be re-directed to you “affiliate page”

The concept here is fairly simple. Locate a niche that is already profitable. Carve out a piece of the pie for yourself. Select 4-5 affiliate products and set up a network of web-pages, articles, blog entries, etc. to drive traffic to (1) your squeeze page and (2) your affiliate links. Test, track, rinse and repeat. Once you get the hang of it, like anything else; practice will perfect your skills.
